This project takes pleasure in the light of evidence of ordinary people fighting small daily battles, trying in every way to keep standing. It isn’t important if you fall, it matters only to know how to get up. We see a lot of wars, and the media talk about them with the same ease as if it were a kitchen programme. Maybe that is the reason for our lack of sensitivity. What I am trying to do in this project is to talk about the little wars that ordinary people fight every day within the walls of the house, in the hope that we can understand the real problems of humanity, from the most common. The “Living room project” goes to the heart of the houses, the living room: the place where a large part of family life takes place, where everything can happen, the play room, but sometimes also the room of suffering. The Living room project starts with this first approach, in a house in Naples, where I describe the irony in the desperation of a lonely woman, a single mother of 7 children. What I have seen in this family is an inner charge that many people with fewer problems have not shown. Among the many vicissitudes and adventures of every day, they go ahead with all their strength in order to survive. This family gave me the possibility to participate in their life and, inadvertently, to enter their personal stories. Poverty, history and wealth.
